Planning To Sell in 2025? Start Prepping Now.
If 2025 is your year to sell, you should start the process now. It may seem like you have plenty of time, but we all know how the holiday season can go; busy and fast. Get a jump start, talk to an experienced realtor like Jim Slater to advise you on what repairs or updates you might need to tackle to get top dollar for your home. Danielle Hale, Chief Economist at Realtor.com, says:
“ . . . now is the time to start thinking about what you need for your next home and then taking those steps to prepare to list . . . We have survey data that says 47 percent of sellers are taking longer than a month to get their home ready to sell, so getting them to start that process early can mean more flexibility.”
Selling a home can sometimes be a stressful process, but it doesn’t need to be. Be prepared for the Spring market by the end of the year and avoid the added rushed stress. Even better, pair with Jim Slater to market your home as a private exclusive, better known as an “off market” listing, to bring buyers into your home and provide feedback on your current wish price and the home itself, and possibly bring you an offer before you hit the market.
Why Starting Early is Best
To receive the highest dollar for your home, your home needs to look at its best. Today’s buyers are looking for turn-key homes, meaning they don’t want to put much work and money into it once moved in, especially the everso patient buyers we have had from the last couple years filled with low inventory and high-interest rates. Decluttering, cleaning up, repairs, updates, all of the things that are better done with more time. If you’re thinking about selling, create a priority list now and schedule one task at a time, delegating time on the calendar to each (& don’t forget to have days, or weeks preferably, to spare!) As Realtor.com explains:
“There are some important repairs to make before selling a house, so don’t be in too much of a hurry to get your home listed … if you move too fast, buyers see right through the fact that you skipped important home renovations. And this . . . might end up costing you time and money.”
