How to Beat the Heat This July

July is now upon us signaling some of the hottest days of the year. Fortunately for us Minnesotans, we don’t need to shy away from the Dog Days of Summer. They don’t call it the “Land of 10,000 Lakes” for nothing! Here are some of our favorite activities by the water that help us beat the heat:

Spending time on the boat: Whether treating your friends and family to a relaxing boat ride, tubing, waterskiing or wakeboarding, or just soaking in some sun, this is a great activity to help you forget about the heat.

Fishing: According to the Minnesota DNR, there are over 5,400 fishable lakes in Minnesota. These lakes are the perfect opportunities for you to destress and distract you away from the weather.

Kayaking, Canoeing and Paddleboarding: Minnesota is the number one state for recreational watercrafts per capita. It is no surprise considering the great exercise and fun that you can have kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding. These are wonderful ways to catch the lake breeze and forget the heat.

Relaxing on a floatie: When you want a laid back afternoon, grab a floatie, some music and some sunscreen and you are all set! Relaxing and enjoying the heat has never been easier.

Reading a book on the dock: There is no better escape than getting lost in a book. Grab an ice cold drink, a good read and your serenity awaits.

Lakeshore Plus doesn’t just sell lake homes, we sell lifestyles. For all of your lakeshore questions, sooner or later, you’ll call Jim Slater.
