5 Entryway Decorating Tips

You never get a second chance to make a first impression, and that applies to your beautiful home too. Take this opportunity to give your new visitors a glimpse of your style, it should be a reflection of yourself. What mood do you want your guests to feel as they step inside? And how do you portray this? We have a few ideas for you here.

Style a Table

If you have enough room to add a round table, it’s a great opportunity for you. Place it front and center for a stand out and bold impression. You can decorate the table with a statement furnishing, some books, or a lovely floral arrangement. Or mix some styles together with different shapes and heights for a more professional look.

Invest in Statement Lighting

You can be as extravagant or simple as you like here, but a stand out light fixture will always make an impression on your guests. You can add unique light fixtures to the wall, a large statement chandelier above, or one or two table lamp additions if you have a table already there, but whatever you choose should be based on your entryway size and layout, especially when it comes to the ceiling height.

If you have the room for a large statement chandelier, SRG would highly recommend adding one to your home. Below is a stunning entryway of one of our current listings that had an instant impact on all the buyers that walked through their door.

Prioritize Function

Keep it pretty, but useful. The entryway can become a busy and messy area quickly with all the shoes, coats, backpacks, etc. and you will want a place to store all of these things, or organize in an aesthetically pleasing manner, especially if your home does not have a mud room. Including baskets that can be tucked away, or a stylish coat rack to hang your coats on. But the last thing you want is any sort of clutter as a first impression for your guests.

Decorate the Walls

Another way to stand out to your guests, and really be able to portray your personality, is to invest in art, one that might spark conversation right off the bat. Whether you want to strike your guests with a bright and vibrant stunning piece, or a more fun and playful piece, there are many options to choose from to personalize. Increasing in popularity currently, and a bit shockingly, is wallpaper—bold wallpaper–and the entryway is a great place to have it!

Include a Mirror

A mirror in the entryway is important, as everyone loves to take a peak at themselves both entering a guests home and leaving for the day. But it also has visual benefits to the space. Hanging a mirror can allow the space appear bigger, and the style of the mirror, once again, can allow you to complement the other pieces in the room to enhance your personal touch.
